The SpringLab is led by Dr Dana Samson and carries out research in Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. We are part of the  Human Developmental and Learning group at the School of Psychology, University of Nottingham, UK.

Our research falls under the umbrella of Social Perception (e.g., How do we detect and process socially meaningful stimuli in our environment?), Social Reasoning (e.g., How do we infer other people's thoughts, desires and emotions?) and Social Interactions (e.g., When and how do we decide to share with other people and trust them?).

To address these issues, we are using traditional methods of experimental psychology (e.g. reaction time paradigms), cognitive development, cognitive neuropsychology (single case, case series and group studies) alongside neuroscience techniques (e.g. lesion overlap analyses, functional imaging studies).
